Nobody actually enjoys reading privacy notices, including us. So we've kept this short, honest, and human — while still doing everything South Africa's POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013) asks of us. The short version: we only collect what you hand us, we use it to feed you, and we never, ever sell it.
The bits of you we keep
When you fill in our contact form or email us, we collect the personal information you choose to give us. Nothing sneaky, nothing in the background. Typically that's:
- Your name — so we know what to call you.
- Your email address — so we can reply.
- Your phone / WhatsApp number — for when it's faster to just call.
- Your event details — date, guest numbers, event type, dietary needs, and whatever else you tell us so we can actually help.
What we do with it
One reason, really: to respond to your enquiry and provide our catering services. We use your details to answer your questions, put together a quote, plan your menu, and pull off your event. That's the whole list. We don't build profiles, we don't run ad campaigns, and we don't email you about things you didn't ask about.
We don't sell you. Promise.
Your personal information is never sold, rented, or traded to third parties. It stays between you and the Bite Me team.
Our contact form is handled entirely on our own web server. When you send us an enquiry it goes straight from this website to our own mailbox — it is not routed through any third-party form service, and it never leaves South Africa. There is no outside company sitting in the middle of that conversation.
We keep a copy of each enquiry on the server as a backup, so that a mail failure can never lose your message. Those backups are deleted after 12 months, and you can ask us to remove yours sooner at any time — see below.
Asking us to delete it
You're entitled to ask what we hold, to correct it, or to have it deleted entirely. No drama, no hoops. Just email arno@bitemecatering.co.za and ask, and we'll remove your personal information from our records.
Doing this by the book
This notice is provided in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). We collect your information lawfully, only for the purpose described above, keep it for as long as it's needed to help you, and take reasonable steps to keep it secure.
The human responsible
Our designated Information Officer is Arno. Any privacy questions, requests, or concerns go to:
If we get it wrong
We'd always rather you came to us first so we can put it right. But you have every right to lodge a complaint directly with the Information Regulator of South Africa, the body that oversees POPIA. You can find their contact details and complaint process at inforegulator.org.za.
We collect only what you give us, use it only to feed you brilliantly, never sell it, and delete it the moment you ask. That's the whole story.
